Attachment Parenting International Support Groups – Attachment Parenting is an application of sensitive responsive parenting. Attachment Parenting is based in the practice of nurturing parenting methods that create strong emotional bonds, also known as secure attachment, between children and their parent(s). This style of parenting encourages responsiveness to children’s emotional needs, enabling children to develop trust that their needs will be met. As a result, this strong attachment helps children develop the capacity for secure, empathic, peaceful, and enduring relationships that follow them into adulthood.
Appalachian Breastfeeding Network - ABN’s Mission is to work towards transformation of breastfeeding culture in Appalachia by providing empowerment and education to increase access to care. In the Appalachian region, we see staggering breastfeeding rates that are much lower than the rest of the nation. Our network is dedicated to work towards changing these dismal statistics and helping every mom and baby have the access to care that they deserve and education to make their own informed decisions.
Baby-Friendly Hospitals In Virginia – The Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) is a global program that was launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 1991 to encourage and recognize hospitals and birthing centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. It recognizes and awards birthing facilities who successfully implement the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding (i) and the International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes (ii). The BFHI assists hospitals in giving all mothers the information, confidence, and skills necessary to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies or feeding formula safely, and gives special recognition to hospitals that have done so.
